And So Shall a Child Lead Them

Beauty in the day:

So this is my 2 1/2 year old granddaughter, Jaffrey. She has gone to a special Easter Celebration at her church, her very first egg hunt. She came across this sculpture of Jesus stumbling under the weight of the cross, and murmured, “Oh, Jesus!” and her next reactions are priceless. First, she looks at Him with concern and tenderness, taking His face in her hands……then she kisses Him.

My heart is full of this. ❤️

Good Friday, 2015

My oldest baby posted this pic of her oldest baby (not yet 3 years old) with this caption:

*Jaffrey Ayla: sitting in morning light at the bar with Minnie. She is reading her Bible with her cereal and “coffee” and she is “highlighting” (slash coloring) with crayons in her Bible. I hear her tell Minnie, “This is Jesus,” as she points to her Bible. Then she says to Minnie’s face, “He lives in your heart.”

Another One Bites the Dust

Beauty in the day: she sat down next to me, and launched into the latest story of her 10-year-old. “So, she told me that she DOES want to have an Easter Egg hunt, but then let me know that she no longer believed in the Easter Bunny.”

“Oh. No Easter Bunny?”

“No, not really mom. I’m just kind of over that. And mom, while we’re talking about this, I should let you know that I also don’t believe in the Tooth Fairy anymore.”

“Oh, okay. No Tooth Fairy, huh?”

“And why is that?”

“Mom, awhile ago I lost my tooth and I didn’t tell you about it. It stayed under my pillow for a week.”

Meh. Epic fail.

G’day, Good Friday

Beauty in the day: the little Aussie definitely generates some cute stuff. He came into the office after school to declare in his small but brave voice, that he really did think that schools ought to give children Friday off, because, after all, it will be Good Friday, and then children can stay home and think about Jesus and God. He left, after making his announcement, with the air of one who was still deeply pondering this idea….
