Jesus On Instagram

Beauty in the day: it’s my month for Sunday School, and I do the K/1 group. ALL boys. A first grader told me that he heard that Jesus would return someday in the FLESH, and he told me, “Yeah! I can’t wait! I’m gonna get a PICTURE with him!”

Hot Wheels in a Beanie

Beauty in the day: it was time to take the daily walk to pick up Jaffrey from school, so Bree told Everett to get ready. He showed up with her crocheted beanie cap filled with about 16 hot wheels. She noted this and mentally rolled her eyes, but figured if he could carry them in the cap, it wasn’t worth the argument to tell him to leave them behind.
When they reached the school, the children we being dismissed, and heading out to meet their parents. Bree suddenly became aware that Everett was passing out his hot wheels to kids, saying, “Merry Christmas!” Bree asked him if he knew that he wasn’t getting those back, and Everett said, “I know, but they’re for the kids!”

Love is All You Need

Beauty in the day: being reminded that everyone has a viewpoint – everyone has a perspective. Today I see many pictures of planes flying into towers; when I see this, I am only saddened by the insidiousness of such an act. I am reminded of the hurt and pain that so many people felt at their incomprehensible loss – nearly 1,200 of them muslims, who were innocent. I am saddened further to think that those people are now reliving the rejection brought on by fear, as they listen to Americans once again treat them as infidels. It should not be. It should never be.
If you are feeling fearful, there is only one thing that can rid you of it:
LOVE.

It’s Complimentary

Beauty in the day: we have rehearsals for the kid’s Christmas Program on Sunday afternoons. After practice, the director likes to engage us in “highlights”, which consists of people sharing compliments about one another’s work for that day. Naturally, it’s everyone’s favorite part. Today, one young boy was picked up early by his dad, because of a previous engagement. We all continued with our rehearsal until it was time to be done. At “highlights” time, the director shared that the boy had pulled her aside to share his compliment about another boy before he left. And it made that other boy’s day.
I love that giving a compliment was such a joyful priority. He didn’t even get to stick around to hear if anyone complimented him. 💗
